No freezing temps in the forecast here for at least a week! The onions are showing new growth, the garlic and tulips are all sprouted. Rhubarb is peeking out of the ground. The rose bushes are budding and I haven't pruned yet. Everything is about to explode into growth and now I'm behind the curve :) Need to thatch a couple of beds with daffs, prune and feed all the roses, deadhead the hydrangeas, lay out the soaker hose in the garlic bed before the plants get too tall and rake up the rest of the pine branches that came down over the winter. Also need to mend a section of the deer fence. I did managed to pot-up all the seedlings on Sunday. Hope the cat doesn't eat them today...they're unprotected in the sunroom at the moment. The columbine is also sprouting. I trimmed off the dead stalks from last year.

Here we go! :)))

My onions did very very badly in the bonkers weather of the past few days. They might be beyond rescue. Is it too late to plant sets? Guess it probably is...

Its not too late for sets. The ground has just barely thawed as it is. What happened to your plants? If the tops got burned the roots may still be ok. Give them a couple of weeks in the warm weather. Put sets between each of your original plants and if
both survive you can harvest every other plant as green onions mid-season, leaving the others to bulb.

Not sure what happened yet, only got a minute when I got home before dark, and I noticed they looked a bit unhappy! As you say, hopefully the more standard weather over the next few days will allow them to recover! They'd been hardened off but the temperature differential/moisture/warm sun combo over the last 24 might just have been a bit too much! Set idea is a great one, will try to find some at the weekend!

They are looking a lot better this morning! Need to cover them away from the digging squirrels though!
