You sure that's not just up-embankment-down-embankment?

The other version of the map was the original by a local AWOC mapper, I believe. 1:10 000 was obviously required for the Oceania 2011 version. (As yet, the IOF says that if it's any more detailed and requiring a larger scale for legibility, then it's too complicated to use as a middle distance map.)

You can't stop going up the embankments or you end up back at the bottom! And you certainly don't (can't) stop going down ;) I'm pretty sure my heart rate wasn't dropping that much going through those embankments.

Yeah sure the iof made us run 1:10000 at Oceania 3 years ago. I remember. That doesn't explain why we had to this time! It's not the olden days where they print thousands of maps and have a pile of them they have to use... We've raced on 1:7500 at rowdy flat before, has that pile of maps run out? ;)

It was an NOL race. Presumably (I couldn't be bothered looking them up) NOL rules follow IOF rules - require ISOM maps which means for a middle a 15000 map enlarged to 10000 - no exceptions. Next time call it a sprint race and use a 5000 map.
