Congratulations to Ali Crocker and Adrian Owens as the first recipient's of The Scottie Pleban Award as winners of the OUSA Ski Orienteering Long Course Championships in Vermont last weekend.
Scottie was a multiple time US Ski O Champion and member of the SKIWOC Team.
Scottie suffered a severe brain injury while biking last spring in Virginia. He is no longer in a coma, but his recovery has been progressing slowly.
He is currently in a nursing home near Buffalo. If you would like to contact him with words of encouragement it is best to send communications to his parents:

Thanks to the many friends who expressed their support in Vermont.
Very deserving recipients, and a fitting acknowledgment of one of the most wonderful people I know in orienteering or anywhere for that matter.
I think Ali has a photo of herself and Adrian receiving the award that she can post.
Did anyone send him a set of WRE maps from Trapps? Should be interesting for him. Great that last year he skied both WSOC in Kazakhstan and Masters in Latvia.
I plan to send Scott a letter using the Mikell Platt method of writing on the back of a map. I'll probably use the Sprint 4 map from Trapps since I have a few of those.
