It works better for others to replace "author" in the link above with "www".

@pat: A friendly word of advice from a seasoned registrar...
Having a late fee deadline earlier than midnight is so unusual -- in fact I've never seen it before -- that it is pretty much guaranteed to cause problems with orienteers who wait until the last minute to register.

As a matter of practice, I always set the deadline in EventReg no earlier than midnight Pacific Time (3am ET), and often go even later, in case someone encounters internet problems.

And some orienteers WILL wait until the last minute, no matter what. :-)

You *could* keep the 11 pm deadline and then deal with disgruntled procrastinators. But I usually do what Guy does, because it's online registration, not a snail mail deadline anymore.

But if it's 11:00, or 11:59, that allows it to be on the same day as the date you've listed as the last day of registration. Midnight pushes it to the next day, so people may think they have a whole extra day, and will thus miss the deadline. So, if your goal is to extract more money from folks who wait to the last minute, then midnight makes sense. Otherwise, the last possible moment on the day you list as the last day for registration makes more sense.

"Last possible moment" is relative; 11:00 ET is only 8:00 PM California time, if you expect folks from there (but presumably they'd plan ahead enough to not wait until the last minute to register).

One thing I've learned as registrar is you can't please everyone. :-) So Pat, take comments with an appropriate grain of salt.

California time? We do have 50 states, and the 49th one even has orienteers in it.

The WP registration web site seems to be down. Are start times out yet?
