More pictures!

The sequence of Annabel standing in the forest during the middle qualification, is the point late in the race where Erin passed her. She said the photographer happily documented the event.

Man, I know people get photos of me like this sometimes...breathing hard while running...but sometimes it just looks like a still photo from Blair Witch! I tried to leave most of the ones like this out (sorry Pamela :)

These appear to be a superset of the "official" WOC photos we've been seeing on the main page, but there are about 3 times as many here and they are all high-res. Here is the lunch photo from the middle qual. Now you can make out all the guys faces and see who is in there. Also note the disk golf target in the middle.

I just selected a few that I thought were best from these. There are about 3-4 shots of each person at the main link.

I looked all over for one of Holger finishing but didn't see one. Anyone find it? Here they are on the podium though.

check it out, it looks like Mats has taped over his watch so he can only see his heart rate display, and not the elapsed time.

Eddie and the other people who linked to pictures: Thanks from us people who didn't have time to look at them all. Great job.

Yeah, thats pretty interesting about the tape. I'm pretty good about not watching the clock while running because it does me more harm than good. There are siituations where measuring ET might be useful, but in a WOC relay its probably best not to have this extra distraction. I don't know how to read that monitor number. Is 181 his HR? (no prob about the links. These offical photos are of most excellent quality...I'm trying to learn some technique from them).

Here is a quick translation of what Troeng wrote on his blog

During a race I want to know as little as possible so I can concentrate on the task at hand. That's why I put tape over the display on my watch to hide the time. I can take a look at my heart rate now and then (and now the rule-fetish-people will point out that there is a rule against certain aids, but I'm hardly alone in running with the heart rate monitor).

Which brings up some O' trivia...At the WOC in 1989, the U.S. asked if a runner (Swampfox) could race with a heart rate monitor. The organizers said it was prohibited. I'm fairly sure he Swampfox ran without a h.r.m.

By the way Spike, your latest Mongolia pics are pretty cool too. I especially like the one with the goats and sheep all over the hillside.

Eddie, linking directly to the photos probably won't work. Here are links that should:

Hybrids are all the rage these days...even in Mongolia.

Swampfox:
Looking over the pictures above, one thing stands out: Sandra has migrated from being exclusively a cow kisser to also a kisser of sweaty silver medalists. Whether or not this marks an improvement is one for the expert professionals, though it can be guessed how the cows would fall down on this issue.

One of my new goals is to make it to a level in which eddie will someday post NEVNEVNEV! on attackpoint. Gotta dream big.
