While waiting for maps from today's event I played around with Routegadget 2

Routegadget 2.03
beta version of Routegadget2 viewer by Simon Errington maprunner.co.uk

my comments:
Looks good with added features - time display, adjustable "tail" on track, animate starting at any control on course

This version has been created (if your browser supports HTML 5.0) to replace the original Routegadget which depends on Java. The new version uses the same data files as RG1, so all of the existing events can be viewed and replayed.

Drawing a route in RG2 looks OK, but there may be some issues with entering a gps track - feel free to try it & let me know if there are problems. Adjustments are restricted to shifting, rotating and rescaling the gps track, so dodgy maps or poor gps tracking could be an issue. RG2 links the gps track to the splits, so that control by control animations are possible.

Note: may not work on tablets or phones yet!

link to RG2 equivalent of current NSW Routegadget:
http://garingal.com.au/gadget3/rg2/#

toggle the O flag - top left corner of screen to turn the information pages on & off

select the event from the listing on the "event" tab

select the competitors whose tracks you want to see from the results tab
- "track" (column 2) shows a track has already been entered
- "replay" (column 3) displays the competitor's name on the right of the screen and allows the track to be animated
replays & tracks can be selected from more than one course

currently the events are set up using the original Routegadget manager

using the panel on bottom right:
start the replay, adjust the speed & length of tail displayed, choose mass start or replay etc

using buttons on top right:
toggle on/off for name tags, control locations & numbers, splits, & zoom in & out

@tricky, I wasn't there so I can't - but there is a temptation every now & again to do a bit of doodling!

( and I am still hanging out for Day 4 map & courses)

Thanks Rockman, Cath and I have put our GPS routes up for Day 4. Interesting that both went in raw, no adjustment, and are amazingly accurate in the gold mining area, but a little bit off further south.
