... info will be back online soon, hopefully by the end of the week. As you may have heard, we are in the process of permitting for late 2013 and the first half of 2014 with SF Parks and Rec and have been affected by the new policy of no advertising without a firm, paid permit. We plan to continue to use some of the SF Parks venues for Street Scramble while using private facilities for others.
The event will happen on Veterans Day, Monday 11 November 2013, starting and finishing in the Richmond District of San Francisco, sandwiched between the famous Golden Gate Park, Presidio of San Francisco, and Land's End portion of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. A perfect complement to your trip to the Ultralong Champs; go for 90 minutes or 3 hours, be competitive or casual, and enjoy the sights!
And how do they define "advertising"?
Anything that mentions the event in conjunction with the venue. I certainly understand their end of the policy, there's a step improvement in cash flow!
Venue has been confirmed and I will post the info tomorrow.
I do not understand their end of the policy one bit...
Denying a permit based on "mentioning the event in conjunction with the venue" sounds eminently chanllenge-able.
Indeed, and there isn't anything to justify the policy in the park code, but I'd rather fight other battles. We haven't been denied permits (yet), just asked to take down the webpages.
Good point about choosing one's battles...
Would replacing the name of the venue with "TBD" not work (assuming the venue name is not an integral part of the event name)?
There are quite a few places where we advertise that require a firm address. And if I forget to change it, at least some people will go to the address on that site and not on our site.
In any case, the site for Land's End Street Scramble is up with the new location.
