What happened with the keys?
Thanks for today's course, heaps of fun even in that weather. Having controlled that event last year with Ceri, I can sympathise with the nerves and stress etc. You guys did a good job.
I'm impressed by carrying 14 controls - 8 is my limit. Hope everyone was appreciative of all your efforts.
Mum and Dad drove me back to the shed to get the car keys, drove me home, then took the car keys back to Craig who had waited at the car. Craig then drove the car home. Luckily Craig's brother Michael had taken the kids back to his place and he fed them a very late lunch and dinner. The kids got picked up by Craig on his way home. Craig got home with the kids about 7:15pm.
What a saga. No wonder orienteering is so good at retaining volunteers!
More of a Golden Gumnut play to my way of thinking
Does that beat Juffy's effort in leaving his shoes behind on the way to Gunapin(?) and having to go back for them?
I was thinking I would have to avoid the dinner.
I was pretty determined to get stuck without keys. At Wundabinaring Rachel drove out but left with Rob & Lois to check some things at Nganga without telling me where the keys were. For quite a while I thought she had taken them with her but I eventually found them. On Friday before leaving home I picked up the spare key then decided it would be safer to leave it at home and put it back. On Saturday I put the keys in the caravan for about the second time ever and had to open the caravan up to retrieve them just before it was towed away (lucky for Graeme Harris because his keys were in there too). On Sunday I put the keys in the caravan again for no good reason and when I was about to go control collecting I started to get them out of the caravan but then decided they would be ok and left them.
Considering Ken Brownlie was there when it happened I'm expecting Craig to get a golden gumnut.
Are there golden, silver and bronze gumnuts?
Just golden. I have a pair of them, but can only remember what one of them was for.
No body likes a bragger... :-)
Yeah - I don't think they're usually given out for things you want to brag about.
