Sure, it makes your arms tired but could affect your stride and certainly makes the impact greater for your feet, knees, hips, etc. Much better (in my opinion) to do strength separate from running.
I got it--wear your weighted gloves to class!!!
by the way, check out Emily Kemps log. She's at a training camp in Italy and has maps posted (quickroute). One of the maps looks like a WOC 2014 training map, maybe the others are too. In any case, they are useful for thinking about routes, etc.
I would check with Erin about running with weighted gloves...
I would simply be a man and go rollerskiing.
Erin approved of them last year, and I think weighted gloves serve two benefits:
1) Strengthen arms and shoulders, allowing them to be more efficient while running
and
2) The heart pumps more blood into your arms and less to your legs, so your legs must adapt to perform with decreased energy levels, simulating the strength and efficiency required towards the end of long and hard races.
"so your legs must adapt to perform with decreased energy levels"
Assuming that you just don't slow down but try to maintain your pace
Of course. Otherwise I'd be submitting to weakness.
