It is. Completely. All the entrants are real (some are somewhat surreal) and are coming. The only way you'll get in is if one of them doesn't show up; we'll start a waitlist just in that case. You get on the waitlist by entering normally; then don't pay, we'll invoice you for the events that are still open.
If you enter the Tournament and do pay, we'll refund the Tournament fee or offer you to join the Middle (also with the appropriate refund).
Meaningful updates:
* Day 3/Stage Five (sanctioned A event) is now scheduled for SF State. They uncovered a conflict on Saturday. This will make getting back to the airport by transit a bit easier.
* McLaren Park may or may not be used at all. We'll probably do a poll, explaining what the tradeoffs are. If McLaren is not used, Stage Four (Tournament Final) will be at Golden Gate Park.
* In one of the most unusual requirements, all minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while on SF State campus (Day 3/Stage Five). I don't believe this applies to the course, but before the start and after the finish, you shouldn't be with other adults unless your parent is also present.
* We're almost set on expanding the Tournament to 35 or 36 people, since there is a substantial waitlist.
The 36-person Tournament would work like this:
Six heats of six persons.
Stage Two: Heat winners, plus non-winners with 6 top times, advance to Antelopes.
Second and third places, plus the remaining top times, advance to Badgers.
The rest become Cheetahs.
Stage Three: Winners and second places in the two heats advance, plus two top times. We may also bring back the inter-division promotion like two years ago (i.e. the top Badger becomes an Emu, the last Antelope becomes a Fox).
Stage Four: The Final!
Single course this year, no shorter courses for lower divisions.
What????

How will this work for Michael and Eero?
What is the age one is considered "minor" for that park? It appears that for SF curfew laws a minor is 14 and under.
Eero is over 18, right?
I'll certainly ask them to clarify again, but from what I so far have heard from SF State it sounds we will need to go over a mountain of paperwork in order to allow participation without a parent or guardian present. This is for the Sunday event only, no such problem on other days.
A minor in California is anyone under 18 years of age. This is a college policy, not SF Parks'.
Eero is 20 days shy of 18... I always fill out notarized travel and medical forms for Michael, and separate forms for Eero that are provided by the exchange student organization.
I'm sure we'll make it work.
@andreais: Allen would be their guardian.
@andreais: I'll send you an email.
