For the really short courses like this, the one minute transmit time for each transmitter is just way too long. We really should have an option for 30 second times (2.5 min "big cycle") to reduce the time just standing around.

We're working on sprint gear where the "on time" is 12 seconds on a "big cycle" of 1 minute. It's really fun.

Really glad you enjoyed it. One of the challenges is to design the course so the start corridor gives you all the information you need to not stand around and take initial bearings. Normally, all the transmitters have to be 750m from the start point, and no two transmitters can be closer than 400m from each other or from the finish. That really allows a course design where the runner can make good decisions on-the-move.

My goal with the 5 placements on Saturday was to allow a given start point for each transmitter so that each T could be found in about 1 minute. If we'd have had more people, I would've explained that to everyone:

1 reachable in 1 minute from start triangle.
Proceed to control 41. Wait for 3 to come on. (reachable in 1 min)
Proceed to trailhead to east near the "hammerhead" parking lot. Wait for 5 to come on---run down trail until the signal is 90 degrees (straight sideways to trail).
2 and 4 weren't so well thought out, but I was thinking 2 would be "wait at the bridge" closest to the guard house at the entrance, and 4 would be the trailhead in the grass on the way to 4, or maybe a corner of a parking lot south of the guard house.

Oh that's cool there are options for changing the timing of the emitter sequences.

Had no idea all the transmitters had to be within such close proximity to the start, that's good to know.

Your sequence youndescribed seems like a much better way to do it than what I was doing. :)

Thanks again, that was pretty cool! Surprised more people didn't try it out. Becca wants to try it out too, one of these days.
