has anyone had this affliction? gone through treatment, etc. On june 7th I was running in woods stepped on a rock or root right at my forefoot just under the 3rd toe, felt numbness and alot of pain, had to shut it down and walk back. condition of slight numbness followed by pain persists, i cannot run...can barely ride, doc1 says its mortons neuroma, an inflammed nerve between 3-4th toes. treatments are: orthotics, CURE is possbily cortisone shots for an extended time period 9-15 months, chemical injections to kill the nerve (and hopefully not me) and finally "neurectomy" surgically removing the nerve.
Comments, and humor i guess, are greatly appreciated.
I'm seeing doc2 on tuesday
thanks

I had this, just it was between my 2 and 3rd toes. My husband, a podiatrist, quickly diagnosed the problem, he took an x-ray to be sure it was nothing more, and gave me one injection of cortisone. The cortisone gave me almost immediate relief of my pain. I did non-weight bearing exercise (swimminng) for a couple of days and went back to my regular routine. I have had no further problems since this happpened about six years ago.

I had this for a long time last winter (Nov-Jan), thought it was a stress fracture from doing the Raid the Hammer in o-spikes. It has gone away completely since then and I have only changed one thing: buy shoes 1/2 size bigger or wider or just lace them looser. There just seemed to be too much pressure on the joints between my metatarsals and toes which was forcing my nerves to the bottom of my feet and inducing pain/numbness.
