Discussion: Results - AP nicknames confusing for non APers

I thought I'd break with tradition this year and put the Barebones split times into AttackPoint rather than WinSplits. Turns out this isn't such a good idea. I've had a number of people (those that took part and those that didn't) "complain" that when they look at the results they have no idea who did well, because the results show runners' AttackPoint name rather than their real name.

Any ideas / suggestions? Other than the obvious to put them into both ;-)

I have been planning a mode for splits where you can show the results names rather than AP names. Something you could toggle on the page or link to directly.

Well, that would be ideal ;-)
Especially the ability to link to it directly in "results names" and have the option to toggle to "AP name" would be exactly what I'd like

A possible complication is that there are some people on AP who don't want to have their real names connected with their AP login names. (As things stand now, you can see most names by hovering your mouse over the names in the results.)

I want to change my legal name to Pink Socks. It's not that different. First letter and last letter are the same.

jj - then they should probably remove their SI card # from their profile. Currently if the results on AP are also posted anywhere Google can find them, then it's trivial to match an AP name back to a real name.

Takes more work, I suppose, maybe that's enough to make them comfortable. Looking at the Blue results from a recent A-meet, among those with claimed splits, one lists only a first name, one only a last name, and two have a first name and an initial. I know there are also people who don't list any name, but maybe they don't claim splits. Different people have different privacy concerns. (I have basically none.)

Switching it up to Pink Socks would give you a nu start. You might want to do a something search of your new name.

Yeah, I could probably use some Fakeblock right about now.

Though, a something search did find this, which is pretty awesome. (It's safe, don't worry)

Agreed, this thread needs some Fakeblock to get back on rhythm. I don't want to end up renting in Sudden Valley.
