Radio interview!!! John Stabler and Barbara Ziokolski.

Big thanks to Maryjane Stout for getting those press releases out, and to the Florida folks for identifying the radio station and getting John and Barbara lined up to do it.

Well done. Good credit given to Coach Duane Adams and by extension to Bob Turbyfill, too.
I met John and Barbara last March when I was in Ocala doing some mapping. They are great young people, typical of the O-USA juniors
They did very well with an interviewer who seemed to love the sound of his own voice.

"Middle of nowhere" is Sid Richardson Scout Camp, west of Bridgeport Texas. Knowing that doesn't really help to make it feel less "nowhere" though. It's west TX type terrain, rocky, plenty of cactus, spear grass, snakes, scorpions in your cabin, oil pump filled, hard running terrain. In the spring it is beautiful when all the wild flowers and cactus are in bloom. This past week at TX Jr O Camp it was just hot. There are no orienteering sissies a TJOC.

Yesterday morning was the Final Competition for the week. Barbara was giving her interview at the start. She handed off her phone to Mike Minium, hit the start box, and headed out on her 6 km course. It has been a pleasure to have Barbara at camp the last couple of years. She is a bright young women and, of course, a fine orienteer.

AND ... She won that course! Not just the girls, but all the boys as well! Way to go, Barbara!
