My, I thought garmin connect was bad...

... so, I looked for ways to download, it seems via movescount is the only way? (I'm on a mac, btw).

So I download and install moveslink. I sign up for movescount. I get bits of the website working on safari, but not all, then switch to firefox so I can see your "moves". It seems like I an only delete them one by one, and the website takes forever, so I only delete one.

Now today, all excited, I take it out for a spin, come back... and movescount website is shut down, under maintenance, so I can't download at all??

Am I missing something?

And, thanks again! :)

Today happens to be the they are updating everything. Doesn't happen every year. Anyway, that should not amter since you are using AP, right?

So, what you do is you plug it to your computer. When moveslink is done you open a folder (it writes data to local folder as xml files) even if thre is no internet connection. The fodler is for mac:

~/Library/Application Support/Suunto/Moveslink2

"in the latest OS the Library Folder is hidden. In Finder hit *Shift-apple-g* copy and paste the path above and it will open the folder" they say in the internet.

Then you drag those to AP's data import box, the one with "suunto-xml" text.

What you need MC for is setting up some settings things like recording interval or does it start recording immediately or after pushing a button at start. Now it shold turd on if you push it long enough (I have had trouble with this sometimes, powes saving thing or something). then it soon beeps "gps fix found", then you push button and it beeps "recording started". And nexts presses are splits. long press for turning it off.

- don't trust the gpx fix beep. You got minimal quality fix at thet point, better always wait 35-40 sec at least after the beep, open space, device above your head for best initial fix.
- track is best if antenna (the side with button) shoots straight up. Top of head is best, top of shoulder isn't bad, upper arm is bad because it shoots 90 degrees wring. Shoe laces isn't bad either for trainings, antenna shoots up and your massive body is relative far away. For races one may not want to carry any extra weight there thoug. Wrist, well depends how you keep your wrist - will it shoo tup or not.

I was thinking 10s was mighty fast to find some satellites.
I won't wear it for the middle on Saturday, but might try it on the Long, though I'm not sure it's the best time to experiment.
How resistant is the attaching clip to branches? And the safety pin?

Do it like in the video, don't push ring from the top, it may break.

You can take the safety pin away if you like. I guess the ring will more likely breaks when you put it on or off, not while running. I have used it mostly without the ring just with the safety pin. Inside O top, shoulder or back of the neck, safe places. I weal my globalsat that way too. But you can't take splist (but who takes them in races anyway?).

It's waterproof and everything, so you should simply not care, just swim if needed. If a branch takes it, well, that happens. Nothing lasts forever.

It almost always find satellites in ten seconds, but it''s based on sat data it gets via the usb cable. Often fine, but always better do it the old fashioned way to make sure we get the best possible track.

nice after the update? You can't maximize maps/graph like before, you can select part of the workout with the zoom tool but you can't see averages of that part any longer (the only tool I used at MC). And page is long as hell with large fonts and icons, you need to scroll up and down all the time. Graph - map interaction is there now but that's about it. AP suunto-xml import to the rescue.

IOC long map is lidar based, so you should be able to overlay your pod's track perfectly on it with qr by using only two points. http://orienteering.ie/gadget/kartat/300.jpg

Yep, magical. No surprises, which is a good thing. Zzzzz.

Is there a way to delete all past runs from the pod? Transfer takes a while...

I like AP.

No, other than re installing firmware maybe. And I think it might scan the memory anyway, even if it is empty.

AP ignores pod's altitude data. You can import by replacing "GPSAltitude" tags with "Altitude" in xml before import.

A useful post to come back to, when one can't find the suunto folder on a new computer. stupid
