Mr Wonderful:
esp. considering the injury.

The Bishop Lake courses are starting to come together; I can have AliC send you a map to vet/pre run if you want.

Igor streamered some of his Hi Land lake controls if you want to vet/pre run those ones.

Hope to see you at PLRA ( a rare Saturday meet!) if you can make it (and if I wasn't too late on the permit).

Thanks - it was hard to hold off and not run the Long today but I think it was wise.

Definitely would be happy to vet the Bishop Lake course for you & Ali when its ready for that, or whatever else you need prelim to the event. By May I should be back to normal hopefully.

Talked to Igor today and I will also vet his...probably this Sat...but given the injury rehab I might be focusing more on the field checking than a "pre-run", will see how it goes between now and Sat. Stretch, strengthen, stretch...

I have PLRA locked in on my schedule as a must, can't wait! Will be there.

ps - I will be living in A2 soon so I should be good to go for MD'ing a fall meet, as long as I don't have to create a new map for it. Have you heard when we're doing the fall sched?

That would've been super tough not to race. I admire your discipline!

I'm not helping Ali - just going to pre-run myself since I will unfortunately be out of town the weekend of her event.

The last thing you'll need to do is create a map. We have more maps than MDs.

This spring doesn't even use:

Highland
Silver Lake
Huron Meadows
Waterloo HQ
Mill Lake

Great to see you out there, Joe. I'm glad you're back and that you guys were able to make it down.

Jens- Awesome, glad to hear there are so many mapped options over there. As you probably know its pretty scarce out here, so I actually mapped WMU once and that took **forever** even w/ good basemap data!

David- It is so great to be back and getting back into the swing of the O-thing. Great to see you there too. I was surprised by your shout-out during the sprint!

We are getting some extra controls/punches to be able to do two meets the same weekend, this should enable more Saturday meets. Schedule-wise just pick some date/map options and let me know, and it will be great to have you in Ann Arbor.

Field-checking for Hiland would be good -- putting all the barbed wire remnants, getting power line pole locations.

It is pretty exciting now since we are getting all sorts of new maps too. Brighton is sweet, and I really enjoyed Park Lyndon as well. Can't wait for the new terrain at Igor's meet as well.

Plus when you are local, there will be more training access as there have been some informal streamer training exercises you can do on random days.

I wish I had been able to make it out to your WMU event. That is one thing we don't have - sprint maps, or rather...someone to figure out how to get access to sprint venues. :-)

The west side is interesting - do you make more maps for the west side and see if people show up, or wait for them to swell the attendance at Yankee and when it's high, then make a map? There is some sweet terrain over there.

No lidar though, so it would be about the same level of quality as Maybury map.

Mr Wonderful:
I was curious what source was used to make this map:

http://mmba.org/library/maps/cannonsburgsga/Cannon...

Since the contours are different than USGS:

Contours are not a problem -- there is data for most of the US. Vegetation is more problematic. USGS is the source anyway most probably.

I mean elevation data is available which is good enough and you can make contours out of those with different settings.

Igor- Great news on the extra controls and increased Sat meets, that will be fantastic. Mike down at OCIN suggested to me once that dual meet weekends might attract more out-of-towners. On Hiland I should be good to go for checking this Saturday. I'm doing some light running now without any pain, so I might even be able to pre-run at a not-full-speed pace as well. Thanks for posting the fall layout, I'll take a look and see when I can commit.

Jens- Yeah, its great seeing some of these new maps being brought into the club, and those streamer training days sound great, looking forward to that! The sprint maps seem easier to make than the regular maps as long as you have good basemap data like I had at WMU. I think a lot of parks and campuses would be happy to provide basemap data. As far as the west, yes there are tons of places to expand the maps...my next project was going to be Fort Custer because I know they have excellent basemap data and we have connections through my WMU geography dep't, but now that I'm moving I can't do it. Usually the terrain data is DTED, LIDAR, etc for our purposes...since the cartographer didn't input a good legend to show the data source its not certain how he/she made the contours.
