Spiked or metal studded shoes are strongly discouraged for this race. You will be on a mix of grass, open woods, and pavement, which may include wooden bridges and concrete, metal, or wooden steps.

The Bloomington Herald Times Online apparently has an article about the sprint on the IU campus this weekend, but you need a subscription to view it. Maybe someone can find a paper copy? (Unless they no longer print a "paper".)
