Yeah, I think it depended on how you approach #8, also probably the slope leaving #12 is significantly more green than shown south of the line. I went a little bit north of the line and it was fine. Also #11 has lots of undergrowth. Also, setting I went #3, #4, #15, #7 and coming back via #14, #6, #5, #16, #17 and it was not bad at all. But criss-crossing that patch around the trail may not have been that fun.

So did you go on trail from #16 to #17? My GPS tracks are widely divergent around there.

No, nw out of 16 to the trail, then trail up to the line gully, the straight north to the trail, came out one gully east. I should have contoured around the high ground more west on my shortcut to pop out right at 17. Track seems accurate, other than leaving 8 I was off the edge of the clearing, but by GPS margin of error.

Well you go straighter too, so who knows what I skipped.

The green at Raccoon Creek was a 5' wall of thorns that seemed to never end. Since you and Chuck made comments, I was gaitered up today and had a light jacket as well to help take the edge off.

And at 33% slower, I can dodge more stuff!
