Raccoongaine registrations are now 67, with the latest one by Frog Stompers, winners of last year's six hour event. I guess they are beginning to see the sunset, as they added "semi-retired" to their team name. In addition, the last year's winners of the 3-hr event, the Stratomatics, also signed up. To all other folks wanting to do Raccoongaine, but haven't signed up: make up your mind. Once the quota of 150 is reached, by rules dictated to us by park rangers and management, the registration will close. We don't make the rules. However, this year there will be a "loop hole" for those that didn't quite make it in the 150 open slots: an adventure racing organization called Grass Roots Racing will have their event in conjunction with ours, with them adding a mountain bike leg to our foot-only event. So, in case if folks out there that wanted to Raccoongaine but didn't sign up in time to be in the 150 slots available, they can still sign up as adventure racers with GRR (they meet at a different parking lot and then walk/bike to Raccoongaine start). In the GRR event, total time allotted for foot+bike is 5 hours. Nothing prevents a GRR participant to use all 5 hrs on the foot-only leg.
