Neil Dobbs and Zan are at the French 5-days. Day one results are available at: http://www.cdco12.org/5jours2005/index.html
For now it appears that you can only get the results from the French connection (lower right of home page)-not available if you switch to English.

In Elite Hommes, Neil was 23/45 with 64:58 on 9.3K course - easily won by Thierry in 43:44, 6 minutes ahead of 2nd place. Zan finished 14/17 in Elite Dames in 61:10 on 6.3K course with winning time of 44:08.

Lots of controls on the courses: 30 and 21 respectively.

JWOC's home page is:

Can't find start list and no results yet form Sunday optional Junior Sprint.

The startlist for the JWOC sprint is here (link on the right-hand side of the page).

szurcher and swisscheese qualified for the elite sprint (qualification results are at the same site).

Nitpick: I think the PostFinance sprint is not technically related to JWOC, but the two have been scheduled so that one follows the other.

Not nitpick: nice work, guys.

PostFinance sprint qualifiers (a middle distance I believe for the elites) had almost 10% climb! Few people under 10 min/km.

I just got home (midnight) from the Tessin! Really great race today put on by the organizors of the 2003 World Champs. This Postfinance Sprint is an annual elite event with invited guests (all World champions from previous year are invited + others) and the unofficial JWOC Sprint (opening cerimonies, and presentation of JWOC athletes running in the sprint.) Really big deal and a lot of fun. It was even live on TV in all of Switzerland.

Anyway, I would like to congratulate both Jon and Viktoria for their excellent races! I saw them both start, but then I had to go warm up for my race. Only saw them after my finnish, and never found out how they did. Checking the results was a pleasant suprize! Good job!! Go USA!!

Good luck for the rest of the week!

I had an ok race, was happy that there were no real mistakes, but a lot of hesitation. Pretty difficult course, very similar to WOC 2003, except more little alleyways and less grass. The end was less technical, but it was hard to push physcially. Felt the 10% climb in my legs from yesterday, but generally happy with the race.

Looks like all that sprinting is paying off. John and Viktoria did very well! Awesome guys, just awesome. Keep the momentum through next week!

Ditto! Nice racing everyone!

16% back for John is remarkable, given that most recent JWOC winners moved on to be the best among seniors. Ditto for Viktoria, and Sandra's result seems to bode well for WOC qualifying and final!

Okay, am I missing something? On the French site when I look at it Zan was 21/25 in 2:12 on a 7.5 km course, won in 1:20. Sounds pretty long for what we are used to here. She had some great splits, and a few 'whoopses' - cut those and she could easily be top 15 in one of the next stages.
Neil was an impressive 15th of 46, 1:37 for 10.7km, won in 1:05.
For the SI list, Zan is on Circuit D, Neil on Circuit A.
Well done to both, and to everyone in the sprint for their great results!!

khall, you are talking about the results for Day 1 of the 5 jours de l'Aveyron, whereas what ricka2 calls the Day 1 results are actually those of the middle distance Interregional race held on the afternoon preceding Day 1, which do not (I believe) count as part of the cumulative time for the main 5 days.

Will is correct. The pre-event was a "Promotion Race", not Stage 1, which occurred today.

For F21 Elite on Stage 1, over 10 min/km on a course with only 3% climb sounds very 'unusual'.

The weirdness is exemplified by Leg 1. The best time was 1:31; but the mean time was about 6 minutes and about 20% of the elite, including Zan, had over 10 minutes. I am curious as to the map, weather, and terrain - I understood the terrain to be very open with lots of rock features. The times on the Promotion Race were much faster.

And Stage 2 tomorrow is the "Long Course". I suspect everyone learned a lot out there today as to how to handle the courses.

Some of you may recognise a familiar name, Annabel Fernandez Valledor, at the top of the women's elite in the promotional race. She said that she had a super clean run.
