That's weird. I've had some robins in my backyard for several weeks now and I'm further north. I thought they looked confused...and that was before this last ice storm. :-)
Our little ground squirrel/chipmunk (?) has been out for about a month.
Ditto on the shivering Robins a couple weeks ago. The carpet is almost out in Rock Creek Park. Every spring some sort of flood plain plant grows less than half an inch in height and carpets the valley. After making everything green, it blooms.
We've seen robins here (a whole bunch yesterday, when it only got up to 46), too. No sign of any kind of buds, except that the willow trees are starting to get some color (they're the first). I wonder if I'll see my crocuses and snowdrops this year?
I kinda think they might even stay around; I went out snowshoeing a couple of winters ago and ended up in a sumac thicket that had loads of robins hanging around. Sumac berries are good food, I guess.
