You picked the wrong time to be awol from work, as the weather conditions caused more weather guys and climatologists to be interviewed this week than politicians..
Impressed that you can run all events at all after injury - well done.

In a sense I picked a bad time to be away, although if the record for the highest temperature in Australia falls this weekend (perhaps a 30% chance), it may not be such a bad thing to be out of the country - last time the no-longer-recognised 53 at Cloncurry became a public issue, as it certainly will be if the 1960 50.7 from Oodnadatta is surpassed, it became pretty ugly and personal. In any case it looks like some of the action will still be happening when I get home.

Were people denying the recorded temperatures? Does Rush Limbaugh live in Australia now? ;-)

They weren't denying the recorded temperatures (at least as far as I know), rather they were digging up allegedly higher ones recorded under dubious circumstances.

And we do have Rush Limbaugh, except that he operates under the pseudonym "Alan Jones".
