I didn't see much on the lower slopes to justify excitement. Any granite down there was probably covered by sand deposits over the past geological ages. As for further up the hill, well my memory of Mt Hickey is positive by comparison. Ararat Hills would be a tough spur gully map, but by comparison, loads of fun. Did you drive west to Black Range? If we could get full permissions and a second assembly area, the whole carnival could take place there.
