Rocky Mountain Goat: 12.2 kms, 19 controls, conditions sunny, dry, steady west winds, temps in upper 70s to lower 80s.

As you will see from the results, the Baird Brothers (Graham and Owen) stormed the course with a speed that could not be matched by the rest of the field. Their secret sauce? Perhaps it was early and liberal consumption of the ultra high performance drink provided at the refreshment controls, which other runners only gradually caught on to. This is suggested by the observation that at refreshment stop #1 2 cans of performance beverage had been consumed, at refreshment stop #2 4 cans were consumed, while at refreshment stop #3 all cans of ultra high performance drink had been consumed and someone left a hand written note stating: "No more high performance beverage left; all is lost, please notify next of kin."

Those pictures by smoke show what a nice day it was. But the pictures are deceptive in that you would never, ever be able to guess what the terrain is like just to judge from the start or finish areas. For that, the pictures by dyee give a better hint. It's an incredibly good area.
