All signed up.
Early Bird fees end tonight. Here's a sneak peak of the sprint course:

Can that iron fence be vaulted? Or is it "uncrossable"?
actually you can get 'in" ( like me- the one with stars on back of my shirt) and get 'out' after 2 m gang ( like Mick - the one with Canada on its shirt ). will be marked with canopy sign ( which is passable ) - so no need to vault it.. good question !
I noticed that, but approaching from the photographer's point of view, perhaps vaulting would be quicker? (although riskier)
Anyway, looks like it will be fun. Looking forward to it!
I'm an external examiner on a thesis defense at UW on Wednesday. I'll do a test vault for you Mike and get back to you.
There were some interesting discussions in the campus pub that night.
"Did you see those two guys in capri pyjamas roaming around campus?"
"Yes, they must have been from Laurier (the rival university in town)"
those students... btw- are you going back to school Gord ? or just to the pub? :))
Well, I registered, and it looks like I'll have to train it in from Ottawa, so I'd like to minimise at least one cost by seeing if someone is looking to split a room at the Radisson? I'm arriving Friday and leaving Monday (due to train schedules), but I'm fine with someone wanting to stay until Sunday only. I can be contacted at niall at mycybernet dot net.
(I gather enough people are staying at that hotel that rides to the events should be easy to organise on-site.)
The Ontario Orienteering Champs will take place amidst the largest Oktoberfest outside of Germany. For a family friendly experience we suggest you head to downtown Kitchener and visit the
Kitchener Willkommen Platz, where you'll find food, music, and a bier garten for the adults. There are many other events over the week, so please explore the festival website for more activities
www.oktoberfest.ca. For those who think that drinking and dancing all night are great race preparation, there are plenty of German clubs. Book your tickets online.
We're thrilled that the
O-Store.ca will be attending the Ontario Champs this year. You'll have the opportunity to purchase a variety of o-gear.
just few more days to register ( after sunday night fee goes higher for another 2 days )
second LAST day for registering. down to the wire ( for us too)
Looking forward to this! Environment Canada is predicting basically rain (and cool/cold) at some point on every day. Can locals gauge how accurate this tends to be?
Niall, the forecast doesn't seem bad. Saturday has a 30% chance of rain, and Sunday has 60% with a predicted rainfall of <1 mm. Usually that kind of forecast means we might get a little sprinkle. The temperature looks like it will hover around 10 C, which is great running weather.
