But 32 is a perfectly sensible temperature to be outside when measured in a useful temperature scale. Your "sensible" scale has 32 being miserable.

32 is miserable. And I hate to tell you this Ed but there are a tonne of people in the world who would find 32 non sensible degrees even more miserable. Those people aren't skiers of course.
