Purple-flowering raspberry, rubus odoratus. Lovely, aren't they?
Great, thanks Janet! They're lovely!
It's fascinating to me that nobody comments on Becky's blog; everyone comments on Attackpoint.
I like the blog, by the way!
I know! I get e mail notifications so I'll definitely see any comments posted there. And thanks! It's a good way to make the most of seeing CT.
We do however need to source a boat or kayak for when we reach the Ds...
Ah but I tried the blog comment route but never knew if it were seen or answered. AP is much more user friendly.
we have a canoe and some kayaks.
Flower is similar to flowering raspberry, but look at the leaves. Also the habitat is a giveaway. This flower is rosa rugosa.
You're right, Charlie. I didn't take a close look at the leaves. Definitely a rose. I think the only wild roses I've seen are the rosa multiflora which have white blossoms (have some around the edges of the yard; the birds keep trying to plant them in my garden areas...).
@feet, I was viewing the blog on my iPod; the mobile version doesn't come with a comment form, so I never thought to comment there. I had to click the "view full site" link (or whatever it actually says; I'm on my laptop now) to see the comment form.
Having lived on the Vineyard for 5 years, I have an easy time recognizing rosa rugosa. It is very, very common along the dunes.
