Does that mean you can't take part in the sprint of the Tour O Swiss? Too bad... let me know if you need help registering. I don't mind paying and you can pay me back when you get here.

Ah, didn't email to let you know what I found out. I got a reply back from Otti, Tour O organizer, that middle distance race *is* the race the Tour O is attending. Tour O calls it a 'prologue' not a sprint - but based on the map segment, guess it is an urban middle?

If it is easier for you to register and pay you back, Sandra, that would be awesome, I think Sam and Hannah are maybe also interested though, and Sam says she can plan stuff after EOCs so am going to see if we can come up with a plan after that!

If anyone is thinking of also going (Canadians?) drop me a line, company is fun!

And actually, here is the content of emails from Otti in case helps anyone a bit:
-----------------
You are welcome to take part at Dreiländer-OL on Saturday 7 July 2012: One O-Event - three different countries: Start in Switzerland, middle part in Germany and finish in France! Transport by ship across the Rhine from Event center to start!

Event Center: 7 min on foot and marked from tram stop “St. Louis Grenze” in Basel Switzerland. http://map.search.ch/basel-st.-louis-grenze?b=high

Registration: under http://www.go2ol.ch/webs/index.asp?lang=en or on the spot from 16:00 to 18:00 (additional costs CHF 2)

Note: There is a National event (middle distance) on Sunday 8 July just 15km south of the event on Saturday where you may pit yourself against Switzerland’s best.

-----

I may give you in addition to my mail below same further information about the courses on 7 July in Basel.
The course setter Christoph Plattner, an earlier member of Swiss WOC team, recommends you to run either DAL (woman A long; 4,2 km) or DAK (woman A short; ca. 3.5 km).
On the national event on Sunday 8 July (middle distance) there will be DE (woman elite) the adequate course for you.

I'm thinking about it. There's too many different things going on in Europe in the summer... hard to figure out which to go to.

Basel is a lovely city and the Dreiländereck (where Switzerland, Germany and France meet - officially it's in the middle of the Rhine, but they've marked it with a pole on a spur of Swiss land jutting out into the Rhine) is a fun spot; it's not often you get to visit a point where more than 2 countries meet.
I'll be in Basel later this month for work, but unfortunately I doubt I can arrange to be there for work for either the week before or after 7 July, which is a pity as the Dreiländer-OL sounds good fun.
If you have a chance to look around Basel while you're there, do take it as it's a very pretty medieval city (in the centre at least). Oh, and look out for the tram carriage shaped like a piggy bank.

And check out the Art Museum. Was pretty neat a few years ago. Probably still is.

Yes, they've got a Renoir exhibition on at the moment, and a really good permanent collection. They Beyler Foundation is good too, but it's a bit outside the centre (requires a tram ride).

Umm, is it too late to jump in on these? I think I am interested in running both...

Yep, like you mentioned, I'm probably also in. Just need to really sit down and plan where u am going to be. But if you're going to be there then it would be fun to be with you! Sandra or Ali, is there a deadline that I should be aiming for? Or have I already missed it?

AliC:
Nope, no stress, no deadline missed! Would be really cool if you could both come! 25 June is the registration deadline, we're well in advance, suppose more likely is that places in hostel get booked!
