How far would the trail go?

All part of the TRCA's grand vision to have a multi-use trail from the Lake up to the headwaters of the Humber R.
The plan for sections 2 and 3 (north of Bolton) is to create the multi-use trail on the opposite side of the river from the existing Humber Valley Heritage Trail. In section 1 (Bolton to Duffy's Lane) they can't use the opposite side of the river, as the banks are too steep, so they want to simply widen the existing hiking trail. To many of us it seems it will be a poor choice of route for a multi-use trail, and the numerous steeps ups and downs will present them (TRCA will do the construction) with significant obstacles. A more northerly route, with the Works Yard as the eastern terminus, would avoid all of the major ravines.

Agreed - that would be the worst section of HVT to combine hikers and bikes, especially since it will attract the most traffic.
