How do you treat your achilles? Apparently isometric calf exercises are the new eccentrics. The technique comes from the AIS and the theory is they provide the same benefit but are kinder to the tendon.

I've just had a hunt around and couldn't find any but I'm not in the field so could have missed it. My physio got the protocol from a couple of AIS guys at a conference in February while I was getting treatment for my achilles. Eccentrics were my usual treatment but weren't working for this recent flare-up. My injury improved quite quickly once I switched from eccentrics to isometric exercises.

Thanks for that. Will keep it in mind if my achilles ever head in that direction again.

Meanwhile, mine's settled after a couple of frustrating weeks into its usual mode of being a bit sore on warm-up and manageable thereafter.
