I felt bad getting to #15 a few seconds after you did and seeing it unfold. We were both having a bad day. I saw you move off and then I looked at my map. I did a double-take and you were about gone. For a fraction of a second I thought you were on another course. It appeared that you'd set a bad bearing; perhaps not letting the needle settle.

Now that I look at it again, I see I wasn't reading the map right. I had the contours inverted in my mind, so what I thought was a spur was actually a reentrant. This was a remarkably persistent inversion, because I didn't get it right even when I was trying to relocate and reattack. Now from the comfort of my chair, it's obvious, with that river in the bottom of the valley, but I had tunnel vision out on the course.
