O-Ringen (Halmstad, Sweden), starts immediately after WOC (Lausanne, Switzerland), ends. If anyone can recommend an efficient way of getting from one to the other, I would like to know.

Better yet, does anyone know if a tour group or bus charter has considered the trip and might have some extra seats? There must be quite a few people that will want to make the same journey at the same time.

Note, I have posted a similar message about traveling from JWOC to WOC .

I'm travelling from WOC to O-Ringen. I fly on sunday from Gèneve to Copenhagen and from there, the organisation arrange transport to O-Ringen. I'm not sure this is for everybody, but at least for all (official) WOC-runners. Check the O-Ringen website for more information!

Hey Carl, I would give Tom a shout out to see if there is anything arranged for travel between WOC and the ORingen and if not make a suggestion to see if arrangements could be made to help out all of the travelers coming from WOC.

Hello everyone, There are 2 separate groups involved here, WOC runners and spectators/others who want to be able to see WOC/run the Swiss 5-days public races then go on to O-Ringen.

Some parameters to consider:
- The last Swiss 5-days public race is on friday
- The last WOC race is the relay on saturday afternoon.
- The first day of O-Ringen is sunday, except...
- The M21E and W21E classes first day is on monday

So for WOC runners, as Yannick says, transportation is possible on sunday and the O-Ringen organizers have made transportation arrangements to accommodate WOC runners.

For spectators/others you will really need saturday to travel, i.e. this means missing the relay at WOC. There are several flights from Geneva to Copenhagen and Gothenburg (check sas.se and norwegian.se) and Halmstad can be reached within 2 hours by train from both. There is 1 SAS flight to Gotheburg which enables both seeing the relay and getting to O-Ringen in time, but it means a 1-2 AM arrival in Halmstad sunday morning (which is what I will be doing).

There is nothing planned as far as buses go, at the moment. If there might be some interest in a charter bus from Switzerland directy to O-Ringen we might be able to look into this. The distance is 1500 km so about a 16-18 hr bus ride.

It's also perfectly possible to travel by train in this part of the world. Geneva - Halmstad might be about 22 hours or so, some of it on a sleeper train. Use bahn.de to find the best connection.

Thanks everyone. I've been looking into travel arrangements for several or more that are in the 2nd group that Tom mentions---the spectators/others that will run the WOC public races and then travel on the 21st to O-Ringen to make the first day there. Trains appear to be 18-22 hours but I can't find a price. Flights are approaching $850+USD which is almost the same price as R.T across the Atlantic though I have found a few in the $350 USD range. Part of the problem seems to be that the discount carrier Easyjet, doesn't fly the GVA-CPH route on the 21st and a couple of others that fly to Malmo and GOT (Ryann, Wizzair), don't leave from anywhere near Lasuanne (or anywhere in Switzerland).

Thought others would be looking at the same route/time and may have figured out an efficient way that is reasonably economical.

If there were going to be a charter bus from Switzerland directly to O-Ringen, any idea when it would be announced? At this point, there are 5 or 6 juniors from the US that would be interested.

carlch, I am formulating my itinerary currently, and I am wondering if you have found or settled on a solution for travel between WOC and Oringen.

No. One possiblity is train to Milan, flight to Goteborg and than train to Halmstad. It would make sense to fly Geneva to either Copenhagen, Malmo, Goteborg but they seem very expensive and usually go to Brussels, Paris or someother place where there seems to be a longggggg layover. Again part of the problem is that the day to fly is Saturday (the only off day between SOW and O-Ringen), and some airlines don't fly the direct route that day.

There is a SAS Flight from Zürich to Copenhagen leaving 14:35 and arriving 16:20.
Lausanne to Zürich Airport by train is 2h 30 with direct connections.
The flight currently sells at 450 CHF.
There is also an Air Berlin Flight at 260CHF but it leaves Zürich at 6:25 in the morning requiring a night at the Airport in Zürich.

There may be a better way to do this but here is what we are doing.
Train from Lausanne to Milan
Ryanair flight from Milan to Goteborg (cost about 90 Euros)
Train from Goteborg to Halmstad
Alll travel on July 21.
