Long shot I know, but the shuttle takes ages and is very expensive. Anyone swinging past New Haven to JFK in time for a 6.50pm flight tomorrow?

Metro North to Grand Central, then either the private bus to JFK (leaves from outside Grand Central on either Park Ave or 41st St between Park and Lexington, $15 iirc) or else take the 6 uptown one stop to 51st St, switch to the E to Jamaica Center, Airtrain to JFK.

I have lived here two years now feet ;) Cheaper, but takes just as long as the shuttle. So worth checking no one is doing the drive first!

:) There are plenty of people in New Haven who won't consider that route, for some reason that I don't really understand. It isn't that bad.

Because it takes just over an hour to drive direct, but to Grand Central alone on Metro north takes almost two hours. Then you have to deal with subway or walk, than subway or LIRR. That's at least two potential things to go wrong. Whereas on the shuttle, it's sole purpose is to get you to the airport on time. That's why I don't like to do the Metro North plus approach, because I have to give it extra time to allow for problems anywhere, and it already takes forever.

With a cruise speed of 105 miles per hour, the Transition is faster than a car...

Depends who is driving. Also 0-60 in like 17 seconds could be unsatisfying. How is your ankle, Nikolay?

subway/airtrain is more reliable than traffic conditions

I'm not sure that holds true when you have to take three separate modes of transport.

I had the shuttle from GC to JFK take 1h40, with traffic only being somewhat bad. If you are doing public transport, check traffic conditions before plumping for the shuttle.

Except you have to book it the day before, which is now. Pooface, can't decide.

Pretty decadent, but last time we went to JFK we took a limo. Nice way to go, but pricey.

For arrival for 6.50 flight, rushhour is nearly guaranteed, I think... Alex and I are going via subway after bus drops us off at 7th and 28th, probably E train from Lexington Ave/53rd which is nearby GC if you go that way! We're supposed to arrive 4.05 PM, and I think meeting Alex's bro as we travel out as well...

I booked a shuttle that should get me in by 5...it allows 3hrs 15 from NH which I'm presuming means it goes via somewhere else first. But should be okay, I think!
