Discussion: Australian team for Venla/Jukola

There are about 7 of us who are going to be at Venla/Jukola this year, so with a few more PPL, we may be able to field both a Venla and Jukola team.

I'm in. and I'm also keen for a shorter jukola leg if possible. I think Laurina is going as well, and I've heard maybes from Rachel and Ilka.

I haven't heard anything from Laurina, and Bryan for that matter, but had heard that they were going to be there

I would be keen to join if you have a place on the Jukola team. Just a short hop from Paris and I had a blast when I did the Jukola long night leg a few years ago!

I am planning to get to Finland at the start of the week beforevenla/jukola to do some training and maybe run the Forssa games (thurs before jukola, 150k north of Helsinki).

I'm happy to take care of the entries if you like. Being in Europe means I can avoid the €10 surcharge for non-Euro entry payments. Should also book a tent as I believe that these are going fast. So, how many teams are there? Two Venla and one Jukola? Cost is €140 per Venla team, €245 per Jukola team, and €200 per tent.

It would be great if you could do the entry AC, especially to secure a tent :) 2xVenla and 1xJukola sounds good so far. We still need one more girl but I'm sure someone will pop up.

Had been hoping to convince Troy to run, but I couldn't get it to happen, we have 6 boys, so would very much like another to make the team.

Hilary is a spare, so could make that spot, but there may be more Girls yet to come

Ness, Fel, Rooey and Bomb are entered in a Venla Team.

If bun, Ilka and Hillary are still keen then Suzanne would make a full team. Both ness and I were going to look for jukola teams to run in as well, so maybe one of us could take the last place in the Aussie team.

Suzanne is already on an American team - so not available any longer...

yeah sorry i'd love to, but i've decided not to go to europe this year. plus changing my exams to make jukola was going to be difficult....

At this stage, we have entered and paid for 1 Jukola team and 1 Venla team (plus a tent and 3 Emit cards). We have until 17 May to enter a second Venla team, so we have some time to identify whether we have enough runners. We don't need to decide on the running order until closer to the event, although it wouldn't hurt to identify who is going to do the first three legs of the Jukola so they can get some night-O training under their belt (preferably in complex granite terrain :-)).

We need 2 more girls to make up the second Venla team... anyone know of someone else who may be interested, don't have to be an Aussie ;)

Start a new thread with heading 'Two Venla team members needed'. Might get attention that it isn't getting at the moment because of the word 'Australian' in the heading.
