I guess this is a request for a new feature since I can't find a way of doing this.

Is it possible to import a Polar HRM file to get the intensity information, duration etc? There is a lot of information in the .hrm and .ppd files that could be imported and automatically included in the new exercise.

Details on the file formats can be found below and I can provide example files if you would like.
www.polar.fi/files/Polar_HRM_file%20format.pdf
www.polar.fi/files/Polar_PWD_PDD_file%20format.pdf

In addition it would be great if a .gpx file could be imported as well and all the data synced up. The time stamps in the gpx file and the .hrm file should be enough to sync up the info I think.

Anyway it would be great if something like this could be implemented as it would allow me to utilize more of the cool features on this website. :-)

This is on my to-do list. In the meantime, you may be able to import your HRM (I think this requires a polar plugin) and GPX files into SportTracks, and then export them here (using the st2ap plugin).

I'll investigate SportTracks and if that doesn't look easy then I'll have to hope the feature arrives sooner rather than later. :-)

There is now some basic support for this. You can attach a Polar HRM file at the bottom of the add-training form. I didn't have a lot of examples to test with, so let me know (and send a file) if you notice a problem. It doesn't automatically populate the rest of the form for you, but I do plan to add that.

If you also attach a GPX file at the same time, it will merge the data for you based on timestamps. Good for WREs or other events where you are running with a separate GPS logger.
