Imagine one has some cool videos showing how cool running in the woods looking for flags is - fast and furious relay first legs shot with headcam with embedded map/gps data and stuff. And the person likes to share original mp4 files, so others could download them to their tablets and phones, so they could show their non-orieneer friends what it is about. And they actually do run out there. Show videos without having to use lower quality web version and have internet connection.

Files are typically 1..2 Gb. What is the best way to share them?

as much as you don't want a web quality one, you don't need/want a 1.2gb file to be able to view it really well on smaller devices. 1hour+ tv programmes are about 500mb (from BBC iPlayer for example) and they are excellent quality. I'd recommend trying to find something that will make them smaller and more manageable. I've heard about this but not tried it: http://www.mirovideoconverter.com/
As for where to share them, depends on the size really... itunes for iPhone/iPad perhaps?

You can use wetransfer.com to send the files (up to 2GB).

Thanks. That seems to be about what I was after.

I can see your point. I know I could compress files a bit more, but files would still be big. I believe those BBC ones are 360p, these has better resolution. Low res would do for phone's screen, but higher resolution is great for tablets or if you plug your phone/tablet to TV with cable as usual. One can copy videos to a sd card(s) and put them in tablet's/phone's slot, so size doesn't matter much, memory cards are quite cheap. And it it would be better if additional conversions are not needed. And I can't do conversion if I plan to receive a video, I would need to ask the sender to make the conversion. Videos taken by me aren't that fast and furious, because, well, I am not that fast :(
