What do you reckon this would be like for a race? Next year is 10 years of Slieve Gallion and we are thinking of changing the course completely for the 11th.

there was too much tarmac on the descent of my walking route for a hill run but the tracks are very runnable. i think there are some mtb trails mentioned on internet (trailbadger?) for other possible routes.

Aye, there are loads of options depending on what you're looking for... and that's part of the problem. There used to be a race from Moneymore to the top and back again that was via carndaisy. On the other hand there is a fairly rough course form lough fea to inniscarn which is a good mountain run, but it would have to be point to point. What did ye make of Glenshane?

I had thought about looking at this (or a version of) on Saturday after Gallion - maybe including Meenard? http://www.crannaghramblers.com/wp-content/uploads...
with Glenshane the trek up corick was very heathery (although some nice examples of controlled burn) and the trek across corick to glenshane and then to white mountain was a soggy slog. Mullaghmore to Bohilbreaga was very runnable. I think the southern slopes of Mullaghmore and Moydamlaght Forest are mapped by NWOC.
