Södertälje. Where are everyone's priorities?!
Södertälje?! Eep, the forest can be tough down there! What race is it?
New Hampshire!
This is mainly because the paperwork to get to Canada would make me cry... And the team is going to New Hampshire, so I'm obliged.
Okay, so that's one on the red! What about the other ladies?
Ali and Alex signed up for Ottawa. If I am around, I will probably go to Ottawa.
When will you find out if you will be around? Obviously sharing the drive would be preferable!
Sorry, probably quite last-minute.
Oh, speaking of paperwork, my visa has expired, so if I were to go to Canada I'd have to stay for a while... so I'm probably NH if anywhere.
Canada and Mexico are fine with an expired Visa but up to date DS2019, according to our OISS. I don't feel particularly inclined to test it though!
Ooh, ooh! Test it! Test it!
This is what they say:
"Obtaining a New DS-2019
OISS will prepare a new DS-2019 reflecting the extended period.
Please note that a new DS-2019 will be issued to reflect the new period of stay. That document legally extends your J-1 visit as long as you remain in the U.S. If you have a spouse or child(ren) in J-2 status, their stays will also be extended.
Should you travel outside the U.S. during this new period of valid J-1 status (other than visits of less than 30 days to Canada or Mexico and adjacent territories), you must have a valid J-1 visa in your passport. If your current J-1 visa has expired, you will use the new DS-2019 to apply for a new J-1 visa at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate outside the U.S."
I'd want that signed in blood by the attorney general before I tried it.
Would getting stuck in canadia be that frightful?
Ooh, ooh! It's time for my favorite Canadian video!

BorisGr: We rode back from the US Champs in Anchorage in '94, leaving at night and driving through the night. James Baker was driving and doing some amazing slalom among the moose crossing or standing in the road. It was very frightful indeed. I recall hanging out with you some at that meet, staying in somebody's house, although I don't recall whose. You, of course, were quite a young fellow at the time.
Oh man, that video is priceless.
Charlie>> It was probably a doppelganger of mine, as I wasn't at the '94 US Champs. :(
Well, I must be confusing it with another time. Memory is a funny thing. Or as you say, with another person. There were a bunch of orienteers hanging out at someone's house near the meet site, in a little subdivision where the streets were named after chess pieces and chess players. The infamous low speed chase was going on that day on television. I thought you were one of the folks there. Mysterious.
I hope you can come home and join the fun Boris! I have my fingers crossed.
Woo awesome! And hope you can last-minute make it too Boris!
Ok, definitely not coming to Ottawa.
Because you're stuck in Sweden?
Noooooooooooo! That SUCKS!
It does, but it was bound to happen, sooner or later.
I'll be training by myself this fall then? Boo hiss. But more boo hiss because New Haven is more fun with you!
Everything is more fun with Boris.
