Yes, it's very strange. We like to think that consciousness is all or nothing, on or off, like a light bulb. But then there are all these intermediate states we don't know what to do with ...

Glad all went well with the op.

Yeah, good luck with the recovery. What's the schedule for full activity again?

The several times I've been on the table, I have managed to count down from 10 to 6 or 7, that was it. You're already up and walking - way ahead of my painful recoup. Keep it up and we'll try to keep up with you at the BD.

On the table, no sweet voice soothed: "Night, night". Wondered "why not?" later.

It is a painful recoup as time has revealed. The afternoon of the day was a honeymoon. Then the pain killers died. Not lap but open surgery as the surgeon whom I know gave me several good reasons. Battle bruises to show but (photo) locale is off-limits:).

Full activity: this supplants the hamstring insertion issue so I don't know. PG's been pluggin' away all year! (in spite of being half-dead lately:). Start with finishing 5' ahead of me at the Northfield race (when I felt fairly spry), to winning age group at Mt. Washington to Ireland and France successes: all age-adjusted, top-notch functionality. Sigh...full activity, is it still available in mere-mortalhood?:).

If you had open surgery then they must have cut a good bit of muscle, so that will knock you back a good bit more. But give it a little time (and some training, and not too much ice cream) and you'll be real spry again before long.

That's not a bed pan is it?

Not to my knowledge. Not sure where Beth shops half the time:-). Am reading "Notes from a Small Island" (Bill Bryson's charming humor re the UK). Maybe I'll see what you see before I finish.

Deadpan, of course.

Touche! So much for left field humor. Bill B is very funny and insightful re the Brits and if you haven't read it, I also recommend "In a sunburned country"- about his travels across a large island located in the southeastern quadrishpere.
