Discussion: upcoming events

Bernard:
Hope this is the right place to ask this. My "upcoming events" section is always empty- even if I have an event flagged that is happening in a few days. For example I am going to the CNYO rogaine this weekend but it is not coming up.
What do I need to do in order for the event to show up on my home page?
And how do I delete the double posting that I blame on Google Chrome?

Uncle JiM:
I can see all your coming events...

On the home page where it says Upcoming Events will always show a set of upcoming event independent from events you have specifically responded to. You need to go to your log to see the list of events you have responded to.

OK. That works. . But then, what is the role of the Upcoming Events section in the home page? It always seems to be blank. I have to select 'all events' to see any activity. Unless "Upcoming Events ' is just a place holder for the ' all events ' link.

Cristina:
Do you have any sports selected in your preferences under "all your sports"? I think the events list is customized to include just events in your preferred sports.

Bernard:
That did it! At some point I must have unselected them because some time ago I could see my events on the home page. Christina you are, like, an AP hacker!

Now, next question is how do I delete my double post?

If you go to the redundant thread and click the "oops" flag in the upper right corner, I believe that marks it for deletion. If you search for "add flag" text on your screen, that will help find it. The flags are just below the search bar.

I have to suppose that the thread is automatically taken offline after some time, and perhaps reviewed by ken, but given how quickly ken seems to respond to AP problems, it's hard to discriminate between an intelligent automated system and ken himself. I'm obliged to point out that Cristina has no h.

I think you're supposed to just call him "Bhernard".

More likely Bernhard. BTW - I did not get a chance to use the oops button. Some form of intelligence - biological or digital -resolved it.

I'd already oops'd it, and maybe a few others had, too. Ken and/or the magical mystery gerbils who maintain AP worked some magic.

Ken spoils all the fun of trash-talking in threads with no title. :(
