On behalf of the Junior Team Executive Steering Committee (JTESC), I would like to congratulate and thank everybody who helped make the O-USA Convention Junior Training Camp a great success!

Nineteen orienteers ranging from 9 to 19 years of age honed their orienteering skills under the careful tutelage of Mike Lyons, assisted by Mike Minium and Jeff Saeger. Christine Lyons made sure that food and drink were available and plentiful. Also lending hands -- and car space -- were Walt and Patty Lyons, several parents and myself.

The camp would have been a much larger undertaking if it were not for the efforts of Linda Kohn, and Rick and Lindsay Worner. The four afternoons of sprint courses and training exercises they set up for all convention participants dovetailed nicely with in-camp activities.

Just as important as what the kids learned were the new friendships they made. When faced with pressure to participate in more mainstream sports, it's good for them to know that they are not alone in their love of orienteering.

Finally, feedback, comments and suggestions that would help make future camps even better are most welcome -- especially from participants.
