was actually about 20m further down the hill. Which, for once, I spiked... and was a bit annoyed to find that it didn't have a control at the bottom of it.
I did some investigation on control pick up. The rock face is mapped where the control marker was located. You can judge this by the contours up and down the hill from there...about halfway with two above and two below. The mappable rock face is lower down the hill, about one contour up from the gully. So if you navigated to where the circle was meant to be from above or on the contour level, you would find the control on a very dubious rock face, but if navigated from below as a consequence of choosing to run more road, you came to the only mappable rock face earlier on the climb and would be disappointed there was no control there.
I will be changing the OCAD map file. I believe yesterday exhausted the last of the stocks of offset maps.
any chance of a route gadget? It'll be interesting to see what the GPS thought (and yes, I did run more road).
Waiting for the download from Colin. Have to put up the Tarrengower event as well, and maybe last weeks as well. But off to Pegleg Gully first.
