I find that using the mini controls makes it feel a lot easier in the fall or just other meets. They are after all, a step up from earlier SSS training events where we've just used streamers.
The problem is they are more easily obscured than streamers. Streamers hang longer and move (if there is breeze) where the control don't. So a control in a tree with leaves is hidden. This was even more difficult since the control locations/map were suspect so being in the correct area didn't always mean the control was there.
There were definately map problems. There has been ongoing discussion about having that map remade. I also meant that using the mini ones in the summer makes it much more pleasant in the fall when we go back to using full-size controls in what are usually more open woods.
