It sounds like you need to run on some older west point maps if you need practice at that. :P The mapper has simplified the rocks and cliffs away for you!

Try the map at 1:15000. The rock that is mapped fills in the space much better, and I seem to get a better feel for what the prominent rocks are that were mapped.

Yeah, will give the 1:15 a shot, see how that feels, that's what the Blue course is on. It might have been particularly bad at the beginning, because thinking about it the Wisconsin camp was 3m contours, and the Nobscot is 2.5 or 3 too, so 5m is a change, mighta needed to key into that a bit more!

And woo WOC practice!

The red course legs have a substantial intersection with the blue course legs, particularly at the beginning. It might be preferable to run the blue course backwards, though that introduces regions of substantial uphill density. On the other hand, after legs 1-3, the blue course has some interesting divergence from the red, especially in the region of high control density.

Do you have the blue course from May 2009? I have a copy that I can send if you like.

Yeah, might run it backwards, unsure, but probably won't do it before I get back from France so > 2 weeks, may forget enough of the details that forwards isn't terrible. May bug you for the blue 2009 later, but think Phil also has that? Much training to do =) Thanks!
