As (self-appointed) keeper of the Mt Tom map, I should check those out. But you were using an old map that differs from the newer map in the places you were having problems (so not your mistake). On the most recent map, there is another boulder on the way to 2; and the boulder at 10 has been moved. I can e-mail the most recent map if you need it.

Woo! Glad to know I'm not going insane! Would be great to have the more up-to-date map for training, if you could send!

You could go for a no-paths version too, just to make it even trickier :)

I recommended having a high proportion of your o-training on maps that are broadly accurate, between now and WOC. You want to develop:
1) confidence in the map
2) a sense that if something doesn't match, it is more likely you than the map that is the problem..

Definitely agree with Neil here.

Will try, Mt. Tom and Norwottuck are the maps I can get on any given day of the week, so updated version will hopefully help a bit- maybe also should check in with Phil about bits he's most suspect/confident in!

I think the latest Mt Tom map is "broadly accurate", though there are some issues with consistency (it wasn't all remapped) and the mapping of vegetation. (The original map by PG was pretty accurate too, especially with respect to contours, but now a lot more detail has been added.) Anyway, I don't think there are any better maps within 50 or even 75 miles.

Running old courses ensures the points and the circles have been field checked. I can get you red and blue courses from the 2009 A-meet. (You already did the green.)

Is Norwottuck broadly accurate? Depends upon how broad is 'broad'.

Cool, would be great to run that red and blue as training! So maybe less at Norwottock... Do you have leftover meet maps or just on computer Phil? If there are some leftovers, could come by and pick up sometime next week? Or meet there to train? You could try my slope-o course =)

Actually, Alex is also in town next week, prob free to train in the eves, so we should totally do a group Mt. Tom training!
