The Blind Tangerine are updated with the results from the West Point event. The grammar are slightly off and nobody knows why. No rattlesnakes were trampled at the sprint at Popolopen though some sightings of fog monsters were reported, and that was perhaps responsible for Kenny Walker going walkabout on Day 1. Or maybe it were just a fallen leaf type of thing. Leading scholars are going with the walkabout theory though, so The Blind Tangerine will lean that way too.

Tangerinas with scoring runs improving their overall point totals include Erin Olafsen, Samantha Saeger, Pia Kivisakk, Kristin Hall, Angelica Riley, Suzanne Armstrong, Sharon Crawford, Daria Babushok, Linda Kohn, and Victoria Campbell.

Improving scoring runs on the tangerino side of the citrine spectrum were a bit like trying to grow oranges in frost and were toughly obtained; nevertheless there were some by Jeremy Colgan, Patrick Shannon, Vadim Masalkov, Ted Good, Clem McGrath, Ross Smith, and Wyatt Riley.

Kristin Hall disturbed the ranking list a bit and landed higher up in the fruit tree with a #6 spot. Dan S-H and Wyatt Riley each climbed one mini-step amongst the tangerinos (probably while the crowd were looking the other way) and are now at #19 and #20.

Complete lemon zest and lime slicings can be seen at: this highly secret place the NSA don't want you to know about!

There was a bit of fallen leaf stuff going on... Some controls were indeed very difficult to nail, especially when traversing along fairly random steep hillsides, in the fog, with only the largest rock features mapped. Without the fog, I think Day 1 mistakes would have been much rarer and less costly, by letting folks keep better track of the big features, and see more of the hillsides to figure out what was and was not mapped. On Day 2, the visibility made it much harder to get to a point where you were totally lost.

I wonder how the Tangerine machine scored my Day 1 run, where my special fog-goggles put me ahead of 5 higher ranked Tangerinos?

(I also wonder how many extra hit's Mikell will get with his craftliy worded link? If he disappears...)

I received the following note from Tom "Tex" Carr:

"Sure, pick on the guy from TX! Clem gets a cool nickname "The Power." And Spike gets "Spike." I get "Tex"?!! And if the native Texans found out they wouldn't like it either. The fact that I didn't vote for Bush and that I don't have a gun is difficult enough for them to stomache. Calling me Tex would get me beat up and would be enough to send a posse
to WY for a "talk" with the Blind Tangerine commissioner." (end of note)

I would just like to point out to Tex and all concerned that: I didn't vote for Bush either, I do have a gun, but I don't have a stomache. And I don't have anything to do with these nicknames (well, not much.) I don't think there's much that can be done about Tex's nickname at this point, but that doesn't mean Tex or other interested parties can't propound lousy nicknames for other hapless Tangerinos and Tangerinas. Just forward me your suggestions and after the posse has got real good and liquored up, we'll see how they feel about it. A suitable bribe may help your suggestions along the approval process, in the grand tradition of commissars and other pomposities.

Also, a correction: it's not "The Power", it's "the power" which is much less cool. But if Clem ever gets his compass aimed square and unleashes his utility legs for a Blue course win, we'll capitalize every word in sight that was ever associated with him, and maybe some that weren't too!

In the meantime, Tex, don't look back--they might be drawin' real close!

I wonder if "power" is meant to be evocative of "NY POWER"?
