Whenever we are planning an event, it is always a struggle to come up with a good design for a poster. I'd like to see samples of what others consider a good example of a great poster for O. Here's our most recent effort. Does anyone recognize the ski orienteer?

It would be cheating if I answered it....
Are you back in Canada? Bet you are glad you are not in Calgary... (110 days of snow and counting, and a cold spring predicted)
Is it
this person? Presumably it's not mbo ;-)
if only I could ski like her....
Janet, I won't answer just yet in case there are other guesses..MBO, we are back. Met with Ron tonight to start planning for the Yukon..
Do you think most of the people who see that poster will either (a) already know what orienteering is, or (b) be intrigued enough to go to your web site to find out?
In either case, I think the overall look is amazingly cool.
That's always the big question with any orienteering promotion. How do you combine something that addresses the lack of public awareness, with something that makes the sport look interesting without making the poster too cluttered with information? I guess we were relying on the fact we have a lot of local awareness since last summer's NAOC event so we tried to go for something a bit more intriguing. That said, all the registrants, so far, are people who have previous orienteering experience.
The best luck we've had in drawing non-orienteers was with our Turkey Run-off orienteering event, just after Christmas. For that one we used a cartoon style Turkey with large snowshoes. I guess they could see it was intended to be a fun event, even though the full race element was there, for those with experience.
Anyway, this poster is made so anyone is welcome to have it modified for their local use. Just send me the details.. And yes, it is Barbie, in the poster, at a BAOC event.
