I was feeling pretty pleased with myself with a page of quotes in the latest National Geographic magazine. Then I looked at the front page of the Age asnd saw what I assume is our Treasurer quoting the briefing that Blair had to write on his return from WA. I'll catch you Blair... just wait for the ABC program on modern bushfire risk later this year.. or are you in that as well?
Not as far as I know, but there's still plenty of time.
One of these days we're going to find ourselves speaking at the same conference (or better still on the same current-affairs program). I think there was one occasion a while back when you were on AM and I was on The World Today on the same day.
By the way, the tie's the one I keep in the drawer at work for emergencies (like unexpected TV interviews). You'd never catch a scientist wearing a tie in day-to-day life.
It won't be the bushfire program. As I understand it, that one is 'in the can' or whatever the modern digital equivalent is. I think a big conference on the impact of drought on rural communities would be the big chance. Given what's coming in the MDB, its on the cards I'd say. Everyone north of the divide is pretty keyed up about the water issues.
Came close this morning Blair. Just turned down a request from Radio National to talk about the Treasurer's statement yesterday. Its 5 weeks from an election and I'm a public servant. A little discretion required.
Dunno what was in that briefing Blair but its sure got everyone talking ...
