Discussion: Judging Distance

I'm terrible at this too. I have always resisted learning and using a pace count. I was taught to rely on the map. But I agree, one should be able to roughly understand distance, for those rare times it's needed. I'm adding this to my training "to-do" list.

Great skill to have. I've never worked at it, and therefore don't use it, relying instead on my map reading. But that can slow you down; having good pace counting ability in your pocket can really come in handy. So, good start!
