After reading Valerie's comments on J-J's log about GPS, I wonder if you would get less "noise" if you wore it on upper arm instead of wrist. Not that it would be more comfortable there...

The noise I get is inherent in the GPS system and isn't too bad - the overlap of multiple traverses of the same trail is pretty good. (I have Garmin's Forerunner 205 for those who may not know.) I have rarely lost satellite contact the way JJ seems to be. I think Valerie loaned JJ her "old" unit which she replaced with a Forerunner 205. I don't like the way the data is handled by the software from Garmin, which doesn't filter the data well (it just smooths it) and gives totally bogus "climb" and "descent" values because all the positive "errors" are added as climb and the negative "errors" are summed as descent. There's other software out there which I'm working on getting. And when will we see the hat GPS to complement the hat lamp?
